Lamicell Horse Belly Band
The Lamicell Horse Belly Band is designed to prevent rubbing and abrasions on the horse’s skin. The Body Bandage minimizes the friction caused by the rider’s leg against the horse’s side, thereby reducing marks and sores on the horse’s body where the coat may thin, leading to sore and sensitive skin.
Under current regulations, the presence of blood on a horse’s flanks leads to immediate disqualification of the pair from that class in international events.
Consequently, it has become common to see horses adorned with Belly Bands in competitions. These bandages minimize friction that can thin the coat and cause soreness and sensitivity in the skin, issues that are particularly prevalent in thin-skinned or recently clipped horses susceptible to spur sores.
Employing a Belly Band is an effective measure to prevent the formation of sores. Additionally, a Spur Guard can protect against further injury to delicate skin. The bandage’s lightweight, soft elastic material serves as a protective second skin for the horse.
How to use the Belly Band
Secure the belly band around the horse’s body in the saddle area, ensuring it is in direct contact with the coat, and fasten the Velcro closure underneath.
Attach the spur guard to the saddle’s D-rings using two lightweight, adjustable plastic clips. This allows the bandage to be positioned precisely where the most protection is needed.
Prevent the spur guard from slipping backwards by fastening the four adjustable side straps to the girth.
The bandage is approved by the FEI for competition use.
After extensive durability testing, the bandage’s resistance is proven; however, it is not recommended for use with sharp spurs.
Blunt and rounded spurs are also available here.
